Pets at Home logo.

I’ve worked on a range of email-related projects with Pets at Home over a long period, including bespoke email newsletter builds, triggered emails, push and in-app messages, ESP templates and interactive email content.

Interactive dog food type hotspots

I built this element to explain further information and benefits of different types of dog food using interactivity directly within the email. The user can select an pulsing hotspots to reveal further information.

The animation highlights the current food type in the bowl and uses a subtle animation to bring in a further information panel with CTA.

The email is fully responsive on mobile and gracefully falls back to a static version for email clients that do not support the advanced code required.

Interactive dog bed carousel

I created this element to display extra products within the same product row height in an engaging way. The user can interact with both the arrow and location navigation. The animation highlights the current product in a new and appealing way, directly in the user’s inbox.

The email is fully responsive on mobile and gracefully falls back to a static version for email clients that do not support the advanced code required.

“If you want an email developer that you can 100% rely on, then Rhys is your guy. His attention to detail is second to none, and his passion for his craft shows in every project he works on. He’s also proactive in suggesting new ideas, and sees them through to completion, overcoming any obstacle he may face within the timeframe given. Thanks a million Rhys!”

Interactive benefits hotspots with animated information panels

I created this element to show the benefits of senior food for pets by highlighting the specific area of the pet to which the benefits apply. The user can fully interact with either the crossed hotspots or the extra information panels below.

The short hotspot information labels that overlay the pet image are directly linked to the extra animated panels below. This also works in reverse when interacting with the extra information panels below.

The email is fully responsive on mobile and gracefully falls back to a static version for email clients that do not support the advanced code required.

Interactive reviews carousel

I built this element to display lots of product reviews in an engaging way without taking up too much space. The user can interact with both the arrow and location navigation.

The email is fully responsive on mobile and gracefully falls back to a static version for email clients that do not support the advanced code required.

“You have been so easy to work with and the work you produce is brilliant!”

I built this email with a function that allows the user to add their specific appointment with the vets to their own calendar. The email detects the email client being used and displays the most appropriate main CTA and the other fall back options at the point of viewing the email.

The calendar links are dynamically generated user specific calendar files and web links for various calendar providers based on event data passed to this email.

For the iCal file, a bespoke dynamically generated offline file needs to be generated at the point of clicking the link so that the user can download and add to their calendar. I created this bespoke function within the ESP to serve up this file on demand.
