To avoid any kind of abuse Email Works uses a double opt-in subscription system.

When someone visits a website using our system and decides to sign up for the newsletter, they opt-in once by adding their email address on the site. A confirmation email is then sent to the address they provided. Contained in the email is a link which has to be clicked (second opt-in) to confirm that they do in fact want to subscride and their email address wasn't added by someone else possibly attempting to cause trouble for the site owner.

To see the system in action click the "News" link on the main site to sign up for our newsletter. When you receive the confirmation email you can decide whether to actually subscribe or not.
